JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for officiating City sports events in which may include leagues for adults, youth, and young adults as well as ensuring that all standards and rules are upheld.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Officiates at sporting events, games, or competitions, to maintain standards of play and to ensure that game rules are observed.
  • Inspects sporting equipment and facilities to ensure compliance with event and safety regulations.
  • Provides information to the public regarding recreation events and programs.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding recreational events and programs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Youth Sports
    • High School student or High School Diploma/GED.
    • Knowledge of the game.
  • Adult Sports
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Previous officiating experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Skill in working in an environment that requires making decisions for the safety of others.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The following physical abilities are required: fingering, hearing, speaking, and talking.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work requires decision making that could lead to major community or organizational consequences if this position fails to make the appropriate decision at the time.
